Why You Should Book a Wedding Film

As most budding brides or grooms-to-be will know, booking a photographer to capture your special day is one of the most important (and one of the first) wedding planning items you’ll be focused on.

As wedding photographers, we couldn’t agree more, however we’re also here to tell you – videography is just as important.

If you’re wondering why a wedding video should be added to your list stat, keep reading. We’ve got you!

What sort of wedding videos are available?

Just like photography, there are a range of video packages available to suit your needs and budget requirements.

You can choose from a short fully edited highlights film which showcases the best moments of the day, or you can add on the full ceremony and speeches which have been lightly edited – this makes sure the video is a smooth production whilst also showcasing the real moments that made up your day.

The length of a short or longer video requires on the amount (or length) of footage captured, and this also influences the price.

Why should you book a wedding videographer?

Videography captures a different perspective

Having a photographer or two allows you to capture and look back on some of the most magical memories of your wedding day. What you may not realise is that photography and videography go hand in hand. Photography acts to freeze those important moments in time, whereas video will allow you to re-watch these moments over and over. We’ll touch on that shortly.

Video also acts to capture emotions – whether it’s the way your partner looks at you, a tear rolling down a cheek during a speech, or a laugh you didn’t expect to hear. Seeing these reactions and emotions in film is something you just can’t replace.

The day can be a blur!

No matter how much time and effort you put in to creating the day of your dreams, we guarantee you will wish you could do it all again.

The day is jam packed from the moment you wake up to the time that you bid farewell to your guests. It’s something we wish we could slow down for you. Having a wedding video means you can relive the moments you start to forget, or even experience new ones you might not have had the chance to see in real time. A videographer will capture you and your partner as well as your wedding guests, the atmosphere and the venue – we all know you can’t be in more than one place at a time, but your videographer is about as close as it gets to being able to do this, and this will be conveyed in your wedding film.

You get to hear what happened

Video captures audio. This is perhaps the biggest drawcard! A great videographer is a storyteller and will use audio from the day to paint a picture of your wedding from start to finish. It also means you get to rewatch speeches, hear you or your guests laugh and relive the moment you said I do.

Share your wedding with family and friends

As much as we wish it didn’t happen, there will always be people who can’t make it to your wedding. A video allows these people to share your special day and experience what they couldn’t see in person.

You’ll also meet people later in life who would relish the moment of watching your video – your kids or grandkids are a perfect example. If you could watch the moments your loved ones exchanged their vows, would you jump at the chance?

A note about music

Music can be one of the trickiest parts of finalising your video!

We know that you have thought about every detail of your day, what comes before it and what comes after it – we also want it to be a day full of the most precious memories.

Before you think about the exact song you want on your video, it’s important to remember that there are lots of copyright requirements for music and guarantees can’t be made about a particular song choice.
